Hans Peter & Hannelore Royer (Director)

"What would life be without the Lord Jesus?"
Before coming to Tauernhof in 1990, I worked as a car mechanic, later as a professional ski instructor and mountain guide.
My wife Hannelore keeps busy with our three children (Lucas, Lisa, Eva-Maria) and runs our Bed & Breakfast "Waldschlössl", the house in which I grew up.
Besides preaching and teaching at our center Tauernhof, taking care of staff as well as many administrative tasks, I travel extensively in Europe and overseas to speak at conferences and churches. I have also been elected as the assistant director of "Torchbearer International" which also adds a few responsibilities.
Looking back on our lives I can only say that God's grace is real and active. I am neither able to be where I am, nor have I desired nor deserved it. I can only say "thank you" to our precious Lord, make myself totally available, and in doing so keep in step with the Spirit.


Martin & Marion Buchsteiner (Principal)

I am married since September 1996 to Marion and work since 1998 at Tauernhof. Together with our two daughters Emily and Ronja we live in Haus, a small village close to Schladming. Since September 2003 I am the Bible School Prinicpal.
Preaching, Teaching, leading Groups and ski instructing during our winter camps are part of my work.

God has been guiding us in wonderful ways and looking back I can only affirm what God has promised in Isaiah 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."


Eis & Maja van Dijk (Bible Teacher)

It was our Heavenly Father who brought us back to Tauernhof in the summer of 2000. Tauernhof is the place where we met and fell in love with each other, and Tauernhof is the place where God allows us to serve Him together. It is a privilege to live and serve Him here, to serve our guests and students in various ways: Maja (Swiss) is the Bible school secretary and Eis (Dutch) is a Bible teacher, guest- and student counsellor and ski instructor. Eis is also travelling to various other Bible schools and to some churches where he teaches the Word of God and he loves it.
It is our desire to be faithful servants and to make you feel welcome at Tauernhof!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Cor. 5:17)



Heli & Martina Rettensteiner (Sports)

Hi, we are the Rettensteiner family, my wife Martina and with our four children. Tauernhof became an important part of my life, because it was the first time in my life that I got in touch with believers, who have a living relationship with Jesus Christ.
After I became a christian in 1996, I felt more and more the desire to be involved in the Tauernhof ministry. I work at Tauernhof  as a ski- and mountainguide. I am also in charge of planing different outreaches for churches, schools and hospitals during our Bible Schools in Spring and Fall.

Tobias & Beth Kley (Dean of Students)

„And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching JESUS as the CHRIST.“ Acts 5.42
When I came to Tauernhof for the first time in May 1999, I got to know JESUS personally. This relationship with HIM changed my life and future plans completely. GOD placed the burden on my heart to share JESUS with as many people as possible.
Beth (America, TN) and I got married in 2004 and in the meantime GOD gave us two sons named Henning and Esben, and a daughter named Bella. Officially we are missionaries with the "Kontaktmission" and they loaned us out for full time ministry at Tauernhof.
While Beth tries to establish relationships with the local mothers, I am busy with evangelistic outreaches, travel ministries, sports and activities and the discipling of our Bible School students.


Andy & Uli Reiter (Maintainance)

Griaßenk, my name is Andreas Reiter. I come from Ramsau and I'm 31 years old. By profession I am a plumber and ski instructor. Since April 24th 2006 I've been employed full time at Tauernhof as the maintenance guy. My work is mainly to repair and keep things running.

  Moni-Anna & Lothar Scherer (Secretary/Cook)

  „To discover new land,
   to tremble, to hope, to pray,
   continue the walk.“
   To marvel.


   We have added the word „to marvel“ to this quote because this is our experience since
   June 2009 when our ministry started at Tauernhof. The ad „cook wanted“ on the
   Tauernhof homepage from which we originally just wanted to download a sermon was the
   beginning of our way to this place.

The fact that I (Lothar) haven`t practiced my first profession – a cook – for 25
years, that I (Anna) had no expectation of getting a permanent full time job at Tauernhof
and that we both loved our hometown Freiburg were facts which were not enough to
ignore this open door slot.

Our Lord has pushed open this door completely, has talked to us through his Word,
people and circumstances, He has lead us into this new land and also has a new ministry
for me (Anna).

It is a gift to see how Jesus works here in people, on people and through people and
also being able to marvel about the truth "The one who calls you is faithful and he will
do it." (1. Thess. 5,24)


Kathrin Ungnadner (Assistant cook)

Hello, my name is Kathrin and I come from near Passau in the beautiful area of Bavaria in Germany. During my time in Torchbearers Bible School at Klostermühle, I learned about Tauernhof. In summer 2008 I took a break from my job as a medical assistant for 3 months to serve at Tauernhof, not knowing what else Jesus had planned for me. Now, more then 3 years later, I am still here and have changed from a volunteer to fulltime staff and I still enjoy serving here. It is a privilege for me to work together with Lothar, our cook, and I am so thankful that everyday Jesus gives me the joy, strength and wisdom in the many responsibilities I have. What a gift to know and be in the right place!




Liselotte Wagner (Bookshop)

I come from Upper Austria, but have already been at Tauernhof for several years now.
Since 2005 I am responsible for the new bookshop, before that I was working as the secretary and receptionist, where I still help out.

Watch out for what you pray for!

 

God answers prayer and most of the time in a way you did not expect him to…

 

February 2011:

I was here for a relaxed skiing holiday and content with my life (with how things went in my life).

On the last evening the speaker asked: Where do you build your “summit cross?”

Obviously irritated that God wanted me to rethink my priorities in life I started a discussion with God. If he wanted me to use my life more effectively it was up to him to show me how. Ten minutes later I found myself sitting across from Julia (my predecessor) and her first question was: “What is your name?” and then “What do you do for your living (what are you trained in?)?”

 

July 2011:

Completely out of the blue, I received an email asking if I would consider working at Tauernhof. I thought “why not?”

 

September 2011:

I quit my job, moved out of my flat, loaded my car and left the beautiful Westerwald-

I´m sure that everything will turn out all right! Now I´m here!

As I said, watch out for what you pray for!

Simon Brehmer (IT & Finances)

When I quit my job in December 2011 in order to enroll for Spring Bible School at Tauernhof I did not expect my plan to just take a short time out from work to change. After I had spent two months with wonderful people, learning and experiencing a lot, I was given the opportunity to work as a volunteer at Tauernhof over the summer.

 

Due to some changes at Tauernhof, I´ve been working full time on staff since 1st October 2011. I am responsible for coordinating IT and Finances. During winter time I also work as a ski instructor and over the summer months I introduce our guests to the beautiful area surrounding Schladming.

Looking back, I´m astonished how God brought me to this place and I realize how he has been preparing me over the last few years for my current responsibilities here at Tauernhof. Finally, God´s plans are so much better than our own!

Jonathan Halsey (Bible School Registrar)

Hi! I (Jonathan) first came to Tauernhof for a ski camp in 1994 and it soon became a second home for me. In 1997 I attended Fall Bible School here which was one of the most important times of my life. I also worked as a ski instructor at Tauernhof in 1998 and 2003 and since then always hoped that a door would open for me to be here again.

I then worked in London as a lawyer, married a wonderful wife called Claire in 2005 and since February 2010 we have a son, Joah. We (all born in England) moved to Schladming in May 2010 as I got a job in Salzburg as a lawyer. I never thought that a door would then open for me to be back at Tauernhof but since July 2011 I am here full time as the Bible School Registrar! I am also an Austrian qualified ski instructor and mountain trekking guide and we are so thankful that we can serve here.
